Is belief in god a theory? Does it even rise to the level of a theory?

They want proof from science, but are satisfied with less than theories from themselves. You prove it to me, but I don't have to prove anything, implying of course that believers are somehow superior beings that know without proof of any kind whatsoever. The rantings of writers in the Bible is not proof.
